The Proposal
We had planned on going on a hike for our three-year anniversary. Joey picked out the hike, and little did I know, he had picked out much more than that! We packed our favorite lunch and framboise for our special occasions so I really didn't suspect anything. We made our way to Hamilton Mountain, crossing the Bridge of the Gods to get to the trailhead. On the way up the mountain, we saw awesomely beautiful waterfalls and sites. The hike wound along the edge of the mountain with lots of little side-trails to the very edge for views of the entire Gorge. After going out to a couple view points on side-trails, I suggested we save the next view point to do on the way back down. Joey was ahead of me and said "ok" but couldn't resist going through a side trail that was full of bushes. I followed behind him but he ran ahead. When I came out of the bushes there was a huge promontory ahead with gorgeous view of the river. I saw Joey take his backpack off and though "heck ya, lunch time!" And then, as I got closer to him he got on one knee, held up a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him! I said "YES, of course!"
A little while later, we decided to hike to the very top and enjoy our celebratory lunch. When we sat down Joey asked me what I thought was hidden over in a bush nearby.... so I looked... and it looked like a pile of trash bags... he made me pick it up... and it turned out to be the box the ring came in! Joey had snuck up to the mountain the day before, hiked it just to find the perfect spot to propose and hid the box for me to find. All without me suspecting anything! What an awesome guy. We sat and enjoyed our lunch, along with the double rainbow that was shining in front of us. On the way back down we spotted our third rainbow- just to settle the deal! WHAT A DAY! I GET TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH THIS WONDERFUL MAN! |
